Project Update: 5/24/24Unfortunately, the seller decided not to extend the due diligence period in order to give us more time to obtain the necessary approval from the association so the building is no longer under contract. We know Allah is the best of planners and we will continue to look for another opportunity to purchase this building or find an alternative in the future, inshaAllah.Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful for the overwhelming support and everything that has been accomplished in the last two months, and we intend to use this momentum to establish more programming for the community. In this short time, we established a 501(c)(3), built a financial infrastructure for the organization, assembled a dedicated team (with expertise in real estate, zoning, construction, marketing, management, law, architecture, fundraising, and education), received advice from national scholars and local leaders, and solidified a vision to provide community education in the Valley. We will use the summer months to plan Islamic studies classes and education programs beginning this fall, inshaAllah. These programs will be aimed at educating both children and adults in existing community spaces for now as we work in parallel on acquiring a permanent space. We will be in touch with more details in the coming months. For those who contributed, we can hold your donations for a future acquisition inshAllah, or you may request a refund by emailing [email protected]. If you’d like to be more involved in the organization please send us a note as well.On behalf of the SMILE team, we sincerely thank you all again for your support and ask Allah to bless our community and each of you abundantly!
